Top 7 Best Restaurants in Jangheung
Today, I will recommend some great restaurants in Jangheung, Jeonnam. I will share famous places that many people visit, based on navigation rankings.
1. Nogyang Hall
Whenever I visit my parents' house, I always have at least one meal at Nokyangwan. It's close to home, but it's also a great restaurant. Soy sauce marinated crab and grilled tilefish for lunch. They have a diverse menu including soy sauce marinated crab, Hanwoo Samhap (beef trio), and grilled tilefish. It's tastier and better than going far away to find a famous restaurant. It's not a quiet restaurant like a traditional Korean set meal place. Most of the customers are out-of-towners like golf course guests, but there must be a reason why it's always crowded. I had the soy sauce marinated crab, and it wasn't fishy or too salty; it was super delicious. It's even better because you get spicy pork stir-fry along with the crab. The side dishes are tasty too, but I didn't even touch them once I started eating the crab. I've decided that I must eat here whenever I come to Jangheung. It is a great place for soy sauce marinated crab. The food is clean and delicious.

2. Subok Restaurant
I was hungry, so I went in as soon as I arrived in Jangheung. The food came out right away, and the grilled fish was served warm and delicious. The side dishes were fresh, and the kimchi is truly a work of art. It's a kimchi hotspot. Of course, everything else is delicious too. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly. It was nice to go past lunchtime and be able to sit down and eat right away. I searched for this place while visiting Jangheung and found it here; the grilled fish isn't salty and is tasty. The fish is also large and generous. The Gaejang (spicy beef soup) was a bit too salty, which was a shame, and the Jeyuk (spicy pork) had meat that was a bit thick and dry. I think it would be better if it were sliced a little thinner.

3. Sea House
This is a restaurant with a sea view near Sumun Beach in Jangheung! It is a true local favorite with a 60-year tradition, now run by the third generation. The Samhap, consisting of 1+ Hanwoo beef, scallop adductor muscle, and shiitake mushrooms, is simply amazing. The seasoned clams, made with makgeolli vinegar, are tangy and fresh! The generous spread and the hospitality of Jeolla Province were top-notch. I stopped by with my family while visiting my hometown of Jangheung; we enjoyed the festival and ate delicious scallops. Since it is in season, they are so tender and tasty. However, it is a shame that we couldn't fully appreciate the flavor of the seasoning because the wait was long and the food was delayed due to the holiday weekend. It didn't suit my taste at first because it was makgeolli vinegar, but it got better after I kept drinking it. The razor clam soup is the best.

4. Tamjin River Duck
This is a restaurant I would like to recommend. We ended up here that day because my mom insisted on having only duck meat, and the duck course was delicious; it was a really great place. It is a place I want to visit again. The cold bean kalguksu is delicious. The Bossam set meal is the best! The bean kalguksu is chewy and tasty. The aroma of the duck meat was so appetizing that I plan to come back to eat duck next time.

5. Gwansan Restaurant
The sweet and sour pork sauce is unique and the meat is thick. The Jjamppong and Jjajang are decent. I went a little before 1 PM on a weekday; the place was full, the restaurant was very hot, I had to order directly at the counter, and the sweet and sour pork came out very late. Around 1:30 PM, they said they were closed and stopped taking customers. The Sichuan Jjajang is delicious, but it's spicier than Buldak, so I couldn't even eat half of it. I wish it were a little less spicy and had more of a jjajang flavor. The sweet and sour pork is really delicious. The meat is thick and chewy, tasting just like homemade. I had jjajangmyeon and sweet and sour pork, and both were so, so delicious. The sweet and sour pork sauce is unique and tasty.

6. Gyeonghwa-negul-gui
Since the oysters are eaten immediately, they are incredibly fresh and plump. This is a restaurant I would definitely recommend to friends visiting Yeosu. Also, when we mentioned that it was our first time trying grilled oysters, the staff kindly shucked the cooked ones for us whenever they had a moment. Thanks to them, we really enjoyed the meal. The oysters are clean, fresh, and full of meat, making them so, so delicious. As we ate, we realized the oysters were so big that we actually felt full. The oyster porridge is also a work of art. Since it was my first time trying it, I was worried it might be fishy, but I actually enjoyed it even more than abalone porridge. The staff were also very friendly. It was my first time at a place like this, and I was extremely satisfied. I heard that you can't enjoy grilled oysters all year round; it's a famous restaurant that only operates during the cold winter months. It's already well-known, so people come from far away to visit. If you go during peak lunch hours, there is a wait. Since there were four of us, we ordered a whole net of grilled oysters. They also have rice cake soup and oyster ramen on the menu, but best of all, thinly sliced pork belly—this combination gets a thumbs up!

7. Scent of the Wheat Field
I had the Bulgogi Mushroom Hot Pot, and it was packed with fresh vegetables and various mushrooms! There was plenty of meat, and the seasoning wasn't too spicy, so I really enjoyed it. I ordered the mushroom hot pot and was pleasantly surprised since I went without high expectations. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, and each side dish was fresh and had a great taste and texture. The mushroom hot pot was made with carefully selected domestic ingredients, and it was so delicious that I ate everything and even mixed the remaining sauce with rice at the end. I think it would have been even better if I had come on Saturday market day. I really enjoyed the meal.
