Top 7 Best Restaurants in Seocheon
Today, I will recommend some great restaurants in Seocheon, Chungnam. The top restaurants in Seocheon are famous places that many people visit.
1. Hanwoo Village
This is the only restaurant where I have ever waited over two hours just to eat, after making a wasted trip the day before. My father said he wanted to eat Hanwoo here, so we waited from the morning and finally got into the restaurant after two hours. I thought meat was just average, but in my opinion, the meat really melts in your mouth for the price, which is comparable to pork. Is it just the feeling from the wait? It is truly the best. It was so delicious that I'm buying 6 more packs. I think this is the first time I've enjoyed such an abundant supply of beef in the 400,000 won range. However, aside from the inconvenience of an elderly woman in a floral pink jacket stealing my shoes and having to check the CCTV to find her—there were more people than expected with absolutely no civic sense or manners—the taste and price were top-notch. I really want to buy more meat to take home. Additional comment: The meat is so, so delicious. I regret only buying 6 packs. Since they pack it with ice, I highly recommend stocking up if you want to eat it over time. The meat is so good that the taste remains consistent even after I get home. Truly living up to its reputation. I went there after getting it recommended as the number one restaurant for a trip to Seocheon, and the beef is truly fresh and affordable. I waited about 20 minutes, but it wasn't a waste of time at all. Besides the grilled meat, the beef sashimi and beef tartare were also incredibly fresh and tender.

2. Myeongdong Restaurant
Adding a beaten egg to the oyster kalguksu makes it so delicious. Every time I visit, I feel the same way; since the oysters are freshly caught, they just melt in your mouth. The flesh is plump and fresh. Looking at the noodles, they are hand-pulled right here at the restaurant, so the texture is amazing. Kalguksu made with oysters is definitely the best—it's healthier than clams. The staff are quick, so the service is top-notch as well. Beer and soju are only 4,000 won, so you can enjoy them without breaking the bank. I plan to bring my parents back right away tomorrow. After finishing a family meeting in Seocheon, I visited Myeongdong Restaurant based on a strong recommendation from a relative. I went there half-skeptical of the claim that "for kalguksu in Seocheon, you absolutely must go here!" Honestly, I hesitated a little at first when I saw the long line as soon as I arrived. I wondered, "Do I really have to stand in line just to eat this?" However, in the end, it was 100% worth the wait. The restaurant's signature dish, the oyster kalguksu, is truly amazing. As soon as I took a spoonful of the broth, I thought, "Wow, this place is the real deal." Above all, the oysters are incredibly plump and generously packed. Large oysters, looking as if they were scooped directly from Tongyeong, were added so lavishly that the scent of the sea filled the bowl throughout the meal. The noodles are chewy, and the broth is rich yet clean in flavor.

3. Surawon
I stopped by by chance on my way to Gunsan, and the meal was so hearty and delicious. I seriously almost ordered more rice. The restaurant is spacious, and the tables don't feel cramped. Overall, the side dishes and main courses weren't seasoned too much on their own; everything blended together perfectly. It was a complete meal. The Cheonggukjang was also very savory. Since I stumbled upon this hidden gem by chance while passing by, I was totally lucky. My companion and I even said that we would want to come back here again just because we were thinking about it. The quality of the meat was a bit disappointing though. It was quite tough. I think it would be great if you could tenderize the meat a little. The side dishes were tasty and served neatly. Thank you for the review event. The Sikhye (sweet rice drink) was so good. I fell in love with it the next day after trying it. I ended up visiting because my accommodation was nearby after going to the Seocheon Festival. There weren't any places around that stayed open late. The Yukhoe (raw beef) was just with strong seasoning. The Doenjang Jjigae (soybean paste stew) was delicious.

5. Gukgaedeom Seafood Kalguksu Seocheon Main Branch
I visited the Seocheon National Institute of Ecology and the Marine Resources Museum, and while it was hard to find a good restaurant in Seocheon, I finally found one. Most restaurants in Seocheon serve set meals and charge per person, which can be a bit expensive, but this place is great because they have food options for kids. The seafood kalguksu (noodle soup) is delicious; the portions of octopus, scallops, shrimp, and clams are generous, and the noodles are chewy—perhaps they are green tea noodles. The broth is refreshing, so it's a real hidden gem where people are having a drink early in the morning and local elders come to eat. The mini pajeon (Korean scallion pancake) is crispy, and the fried dumplings are especially crunchy. The pork cutlet is also large, and everything is delicious; it's a great place to go with children. If you are eating the kalguksu with kids, be sure to ask them to leave out the chili peppers beforehand. I participated in a review event and received a 2,000 won discount on Seocheon gift certificates, so I bought some snacks and had a cup of Americano at the entrance on my way out. If you plan to visit, go early. It gets super crowded at lunchtime. Owner, I'll definitely come back later. I came here after searching for a place following the Seocheon Hansan Ramie Marathon, and there is an incredible amount of seafood in the kalguksu. It feels like I'm nourishing myself after the marathon. The noodles are so chewy, probably because they are handmade with chives. I think I'll stop by again if I come to Seocheon.

6. Halmae Onjeongjip
The fresh anglerfish stew is really delicious. I can't believe I only just found out about this hidden gem. I will definitely visit again next time. It is absolutely delicious. I had to wait a bit since I didn't have a reservation, but the waiting area was cozy and nice. It is a long-standing, famous restaurant. I usually don't like anglerfish, but I really enjoyed this. They have two types of broth: white and red. Onjeongjip is a famous anglerfish specialty restaurant in Seocheon that has been carrying on the taste of anglerfish for three generations. The anglerfish stew and braised anglerfish, made with Onjeongjip's unique secret recipe, are delicious as the refreshing yet spicy broth harmonizes with the chewy texture of the anglerfish, and there is absolutely no fishy smell. They make the anglerfish stew with years of culinary experience, and because of their generous hospitality, they always serve generous and abundant portions. Onjeongjip's anglerfish stew and braised anglerfish, made with their distinctive touch and sincerity, are so well-known among gourmets that there is no one who doesn't know about them.

7. Hanobaeknyeon Chueotang Main Branch
As a Chueotang enthusiast, I highly recommend this place! There aren't many Chueotang restaurants that serve this many side dishes. Personally, the marinated young oysters are sweet but delicious. The other side dishes are tasty as well. You can ask the staff for refills of the marinated oysters. They also sell them separately, so you can purchase them as well. It really feels like Seocheon. The loach used in the soup is domestic, so they confidently displayed the source of purchase near the entrance. The soup is rich and free of any fishy smell; it tastes great when you add chives, chili peppers, and some perilla seeds, then mix in the noodles that come with it. The instructions on how to eat it are clearly explained on the wall, which is very thoughtful. After adding water to the stone pot to make scorched rice soup, I felt truly satisfied and definitely intend to visit again. There is parking for about three cars on the road in front of the store, as well as a separate parking lot behind it. Since it was a weekday, I parked in the empty lot across the street (which turned out to be a church parking lot) and walked over. It offers great value for money, and I acknowledge this as a Chueotang hotspot.
